Mom's reports and the Dalai Lama

We got back from Rochester today. We went as far as Fargo last night. Overall mom had a great checkup and her liver functions are great. There was also no signs of cancer so we're thankful for that. Her kidney functions are the only thing the doctors were concerned about. A healthy person kidneys function at 100. The doctors like transplant patients to function at 60. In September mom's were functioning at 30 and now they're down to 27. The doctors feel this is because the drug Prograf (one of the immune suppressant drugs she's on and will always have to be on) is very hard on the kidneys. They have cut her dose in half so hopefully this will allow her kidneys to function better and her liver not to show signs of rejection.

We were able to have a late lunch with Loren (Kelly was working) yesterday. This time he took us to The Sunshine Factory (they took us to The Cheesecake Factory on Sunday). We jokingly asked him if there were anymore factories he wanted to take us to before we left. It was a really good lunch. Mom and I ate at Ruby Tuesday last night. I didn't think it was all that great.

Tonight after supper we went to the school's yearly Art Fair/Ice Cream Social. Mom is staying tonight so was able to go with us. It is nice to be home! Tomorrow we will be starting to clear garbage out of the backyard-the roll-off arrived today.

One more thing-as mom and I were riding the shuttle from the clinic to the transplant house yesterday the driver said, "There goes the Dalai Lama. They're transporting him from St. Mary's to Methodist Hospital." There was a police escort and earlier the bomb squad was out checking cars around the area. I'm not sure what ailment he has that he was at Mayo.
