I had an interview for a teaching job I would absolutely love about ten days ago. I'm still waiting to hear if I got the job. The more days that go by the more unlikely that it seems that I've gotten it. I was told I would hear either way so since I haven't heard anything yet hope is still alive! If not I'll keep applying and hopefully will get something this year. I would really love to be teaching full time!
Bruce and I went out for our 16th anniversary on Friday to The Walrus. It was really good. I had only been there once before and Bruce wanted to try it. I had the chicken florentine ravioli and Bruce had a steak. We drove by the river afterwards and we found out that there's a really nice beach there now. That's from last year's flooding. I think I'll take the kids there sometime this week-I guess it's suppose to be in the 90's on Tuesday.
This is going to be a busy week! We are getting ready for a rummage sale on Friday/ Saturday, I have both book clubs, Donovan has football camp, Samantha finishes tennis, has Day Camp with Miss Sparkles, and of course there's a doctor appointment to go to as well. It was nice not to have to go to any last week. Although Sadie did go to the vet so I guess that counts. She was told she's a bit overweight-only about a pound but for her that's like 30! The vet suggested green beans (fresh or frozen) as a low calorie snack for her. She loves them. I'm a bit worried she'll eat them out of the garden this summer now.
I finished three Nicholas Sparks books since I last blogged. True Believer, At First Sight, and Nights in Rodanthe. Now I've started on a book called The Amber Room by Steve Berry. I know that after that I'll read Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Wells for one book club and I'll find out tomorrow what other book we'll be reading for my other one.
I also made significant progress in the office in the basement and more in the storage room. I find on days that the kids have activities and I have to do a lot of driving here and there, I don't get very much done. I enjoy the days when I don't have to be in so many places.

Time's getting away from me..........
I really thought I had blogged last week. I certainly thought about it. Here it is almost the middle of June already!! The summer is going way too fast. Samantha started tennis last week so that was something new to the schedule. This week Donovan and Samantha have also had Vacation Bible School from 1-7. It's weird just having Gerrit and/or Aleah around. They keep themselves entertained so I shouldn't have any excuses for not getting things done with the exception that it's hard to get things done when you're driving people here and there.
Gerrit had an orthodontist appointment at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning. I went with my mom to her doctor appointment yesterday afternoon and tomorrow at 8:30 Samantha has a doctor appointment. I also had an interview last night for a teaching position. I would be so excited to get it. I should know soon. I really hope I get it.
Donovan is having a friend over tomorrow afternoon. I think I'll take the kids swimming. It's suppose to be in the 70's. That's too cold for me so I'll bring a book.
I did finally finish Seabiscuit. I did enjoy it, but it took me awhile to get through it. I know a lot about horse racing and jockeys now. I'm going to start a Nicholas Sparks book now. I haven't read one of his for a long time. I was going to read Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. I checked it our from the library. The book is well over a thousand pages-it was so heavy. I'm going to splurge and spend a dollar and get it on my Nook. I'm not sure when I'll start reading it but I think it would be a good book. Maybe I should watch a version of it first.

Weekend update
Last week I continued to get things done around the house. It's nice to see a little progress. Friday I took the kids to the Heritage Center to sign up for the summer reading program. After lunch we went to the library to get books. We'll need to go again tomorrow as Aleah has read all but one of hers and Donovan will need more. I also have to check out books for Gerrit that we actually have at home that he's reading but for them to count for him they have to be checked out of the library. This is for the older kids. I understand it's because they want the kids to come to the library, but it's a little silly to me that he's suppose to check out books (like the Harry Potter books) we have. He doesn't have as much time as the others to get to the library since he works.
Saturday we had thought about going to some rummage sale on Highway 10 but weren't motivated enough to do so. I got more done around the house and the kids played outside a good chunk of the day. Gerrit worked. We had a fire at night and had smores. I also made yummy BLT's for supper. They're so simple, but so good. We also had a really good watermelon. Samantha hurt her ankle shortly before we went in for the night, but it was better today. She thought she should stay home from church, but we convinced she would be fine.
After church today, we came home and had lunch and then we headed up to Washburn to see the Lewis and Clark Center and Fort Mandan. It was free! This saved us $35. The kids weren't too impressed so I'm glad we didn't have to pay. Donovan did a replica of the fort for his North Dakota project so it was good for him to see it.
Tomorrow is the first full week of summer vacation. It's kind of bitter sweet for me since I would have liked to have been teaching Camp Edventure, but it's nice not to be stressed about that. Samantha starts tennis lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays this month. Gerrit and I also have to go to Bismarck High School Wednesday morning to visit with the counselor. I'm impressed that they visit individually with the approximately 400 sophomores that will be starting there in August.
I only had time to read one book this week-actually since Tuesday.
A Night Like This by Julia Quinn
I have started on Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand. I hope to finish that this week and get on to something else!
