We had a good 4th of July weekend. I think we were all pretty worn out last night from the late nights. We had a great time at the Weaver house and then that night when they came over. There didn't seem to be quite as many fireworks as last year but probably because our neighbors to the east (that usually shoot off a lot of fireworks) didn't shoot theirs off until the next night-we could tell by the garbage in their driveway that's what they did. Samantha did fall asleep about eleven that night but that's pretty good she lasted that long since she didn't have a nap that day and she had been swimming.
Despite the late night we were on the road by 8:30 the next morning. We arrived in Hague for their centennial parade and saw Milo and Duane driving their tractors. We had pizza for lunch at the farm and then we all took long naps. I was starting to doubt if Samantha would nap because she was so wound up and she even told me that she wasn't sleepy but I told her if she didn't nap she wouldn't get to see the fireworks and her reply was, "The fireworks will miss me."
We headed over to Duane and Betty's about seven and ate and enjoyed more fireworks that night. Donovan and Aleah amused us when they were going to kick over what they thought was a firework they thought was done but it still had some sparks left in it and they both ran away so fast they kicked up gravel. Donovan collapsed on the lawn in disbelief and we all laughed at how funny it looked. The mosquitoes were quite bad for awhile and we had so much Deep Woods Off on us that I had all the kids take baths or showers when we got back so it was another late night.
We went to church in the morning and after we ate we left around 2:30 and got back to Bismarck around four. We pretty much just laid around after that and took a little walk after supper. Samantha rode Donovan's trike for awhile and she does really well-she can pedal but not stear yet.
Today Donovan and Samantha had tennis and we all went to the library. IT's really humid out today and we did get .80 of rain this morning.
Tomorrow Gerrit has golf, Aleah has tennis and piano and Donovan and Aleah have swimming lessons. Donovan did pass his last session so he's now a guppy instead of a polliwog. Samantha can't advance until she's four so I didn't sign her up for this session since Gerrit can't be in lessons yet anyway.
