We rolled into Madison today at 11:45 am and went right away to pick up the tuxedos. Loren, Laurence (Loren's dad), and Ron (Loren's friend and a groomsman) ended up at a stop light behind us - so we were all there at the same time. In addition, another groomsman, Brian, and his wife, Jennifer, were there waiting for Loren. It was a big group trying on tuxes. After that Loren took everyone out for dinner at a local Rocky Rococo pizza. It was very good and the kids enjoyed playing games and cashing in tickets for trinkets. Right now Nancy is with the kids in the hotel pool and I'm with a napping Samantha. Later on we might go visit Kelly's parents at their house, and we have rehearsal at 6:00 with the rehearsal dinner to follow.
This week Nancy's mom, Karen, has been having her periodic checkup and appointments at Rochester. Her tests have not been good lately and she has been tired. We found out today that her transplanted liver is showing signs of rejection. She had a treatment today, and will have another on Sunday, and again on Tuesday. Nancy knows more than I do about this, but it sounds like it does happen that they can bring it around again. So, we just ask for your prayers at this time - that the treatments work to stop the rejection. Thanks.
Karen got here this afternoon and we'll see her tonight at the rehearsal. Today's treatment was this morning and she left Rochester shortly after lunch.
10:00 pm update: After speaking with Karen tonight, we have some more detail. Signs of rejection occur in about 85% of transplants and they sound fairly hopeful about things with Karen. It was good she had these appointments this week and they were able to catch the problem and work on treatment quickly. She will have another biopsy next week Wednesday and find out on Thursday if she can come home or not.
