80's Videos: Robbie Nevil

This week the 80's videos are courtesy of Robbie Nevil. He released three solo albums in the late 80's and early 90's (1986, 1988, and 1991). The first album was self-titled and was the most popular. His music would be best categorized as pop or dance - definitely not hard rock, and I would guess that unless you were listening to pop music in that time period you may not be familiar with Robbie Nevil. I remember my brother, Doug, bought one or more of his albums.

Wikipedia and his personal site say that he is now mostly involved in songwriting and in finding new talent. He co-wrote three songs on the High School Musical soundtrack and co-wrote the Hannah Montana theme song and three other songs on the Hannah Montana soundtrack. We have a nine year old daughter so we are definitely familiar with those! He has written or co-written songs for Jordin Sparks (an American Idol winner), Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Melissa Ethridge, Luther Vandross, ElDeBarge, and, interestingly enough, David Lee Roth.

The following videos are "C'est La Vie" and "Wot's It To Ya," both from his first album. The former hit #2 on the charts and the latter went to #10.
