Although they may have jumped the gun a bit, here from TCM is a remembrance of film industry contributors who passed away in 2008.
Hey, maybe this is a video Nancy will actually watch! (She doesn't watch the videos I post.)
I'm sure you are curious about the music. I know I was. It is Joe Henry with "God Only Knows." According to Wikipedia, Joe is married to Madonna's sister.

The Incredible Hulk
Yesterday Nancy's brother, Loren, rented the movie The Incredible Hulk and we watched it before putting the kids to bed. The movie was pretty good. Loren said Iron Man is better, though.
This got me thinking about the Incredible Hulk TV series we watched at home as kids. Below is a clip from the series. I did not remember they had such incredible special effects!
Did you know Lou Ferrigno had a cameo in the above mentioned movie? He was a security guard, and he also voiced the Hulk character.

Indiana Jones (Lego)
Yesterday Gerrit purchased a Lego Indiana Jones set with some money he has saved up from allowances, Christmas, and birthday.
After lunch today I got busy with my NASCAR nap upstairs while Gerrit went downstairs to get started on the Lego set. It wasn't too long before he needed some help so I gladly went to assist. I like working with the Lego products, probably more than Gerrit does. Donovan, Gerrit, and I worked together to complete the project. The finished items look pretty cool.
I had to take some pictures to document the event.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is scheduled to start playing in theaters on May 22, 2008. I've been asked out to the movie by someone other than Nancy.

Killer Bees and VW Beetles!
After my post from a bit back about our game of counting VW Beetle sightings, I was reminded of a TV movie about "killer" bees I saw when I was young. I did some internet research and found out the title of the movie was "The Savage Bees" and it came out in 1976. I would have been nine or ten years old. I suppose that was about the time of the scare of africanized bees moving up from South America.
I don't remember much detail about the movie but I do remember the final scenes involved a car covered with bees. Of course, a woman was trapped inside the car and I suppose the bees were trying to get to her. I recall her having to deal with some that were finding their way into the interior, and toward the end she was getting more and more inside - creating a greater urgency to the situation.
She either drove the car or someone else pushed the car into the Superdome. They then kicked in the AC to cool the stadium and at some point the bees were chilled enough to be immobilized (at 45 deg., one web site said), saving our lady in distress.
I had an aversion to or fear of bees/wasps back then and I still do. I suppose that is the reason the movie made an impression in my memory.
The car covered with bees was a red VW Beetle. I found some captures from the movie on a web site and have included them here. The site appears to be French and the web address is on each photo.
Anyone else remember this movie?
Courtesy of Wikipedia, here is an animated graphic illustrating the spread of africanized honey bees up through 2003. I don't know, I'm pretty sure they are also in Florida and some other southern states by now too.
