Luke update

Luke is doing very well. He's been moved out of the most critical part of the NICU and Kelly has even been able to nurse him a few times. Kelly is being discharged from the hospital today after being in the hospital for 50 days!! The last three weeks she was even able to hook herself up to the fetal heart moniter a couple times a day to be monitered. Loren and she will still be spending a good deal a time at the hospital but it shouldn't be too long before Luke is discharged-maybe as soon as a week but by the end of the month for sure.

It was a wise decision the doctors made to deliver Luke when they did. He wasn't growing like he should have-he was estimated to be the weight he was actually born at two weeks ago so he hadn't gotten any bigger since then-and he was starting to lose blood which is why he had to have the blood transfusion.

My parents got back home late this morning-they left on the train at 11:00 last night. They are tired today since they didn't sleep much. Mom said Luke is really cute. I'm sure she's a little biased but she actually didn't think Loren was cute at all until he got a little older. She thought he looked like a little old man-he reminded her of her Grandpa Skjelstad. She said Luke's really tiny (like a doll) but he's perfect and he does have hair but it's really blonde. I can't wait to see pictures-I thought I'd have seen some by now but guess not.

We'll be taking Gerrit up to Bible camp tomorrow. He's excited about it and it will be strange to have only three kids at home for a week. The weather sounds like it could be rainy off and on but at least it doesn't sound like it will be too hot or too cold.
